FDU-Chemistry MS program entrance requirements:

Master of Science in Chemistry
Master of Science in Chemistry with Concentration in Pharmaceutical Chemistry

The basic expectation for a fully matriculated student entering the Master's Degree program in Chemistry is an undergraduate degree in chemistry, equivalent to the ACS-certified degrees offered at FDU and at many American universities, in addition to an undergraduate performance equivalent to a grade point ratio of at least 2.75. Students satisfying these expectations will normally be admitted fully matriculated if letters of recommendation and other credentials are in order.

We may accept applicants with varying levels of education below these basic requirements with the understanding that students changing their educational plans may need access to graduate-level education in chemistry with less than the optimum preparation.

The minimum of prior chemistry education that will be accepted for fully matriculated status, without additional requirements, includes the equivalent of twenty-four credits of undergraduate chemistry, which includes general chemistry, organic chemistry, and physical chemistry. These courses must be equivalent to those offered in chemistry departments certified by the ACS and include those topics normally covered in those courses. If there is uncertainty in the preparation of an applicant, a placement test may be required.

Students not satisfying these minimum requirements may be admitted in the pre-matriculated status or may be required to take foundational undergraduate courses, such as Physical Chemistry II (CHEM3242) and Foundations laboratories (CHEM5801 and CHEM5803), which will add to the degree requirements for the graduate degree..
