HOW TO APPLY FOR ADMISSION

APPLYING FOR ADMISSION

Applications are accepted for the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters and should be submitted as early as possible.  To request an application, click here.  Please complete the application in full, being certain to identify the campus you plan to attend and the program in which you are interested. Mail the application form and all other supporting documents to:

Admissions Status
Applicants may apply as degree-seeking or non-degree students. Degree-seeking students whose files are complete may be admitted as matriculated students. Students whose files are incomplete may be admitted as non-degree students. Non-degree students must submit evidence of an associate’s or bachelor’s degree and may enroll in a limited number of classes with the approval of an academic advisor.

Requirements for Undergraduate Admission
B. A. in English
B. A. in Humanities
B. A. in Individualized Studies
    with Concentrations in:
         · Business & Technology
         · Criminal Justice
         · Hospitality Management

         · Sociology

An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, with an undergraduate GPA of at least 2.0.

B.S. in Business Management

An associate's degree from an accredited college or university, with an undergraduate GPA of at least 2.50. 

A minimum of two years full-time work experience.

Should be at least 23 years of age.

B.S. in Nursing
Graduation from a regionally accredited diploma or associate degree nursing program, with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00.

QUEST Combined B.A. in English / Master of Arts in Teaching (K-12)
QUEST Combined B.A. in Humanities / Master of Arts in Teaching (P-8)

*Direct Admission:
An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0;
A passing score on the appropriate PRAXIS II Examination.
 

Requirements for Graduate Admission

Master of Arts in Teaching (Elementary Education, K-8)
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75;
At least 60 undergraduate credits in the liberal arts and sciences;
A passing score on the PRAXIS II Elementary Education: Content Knowledge Examination;
Two letters of recommendation;
A personal interview with a program advisor.

Master of Arts in Teaching (Biology, Chemistry, English, Mathematics, Physical Science, Social Studies, World Languages, K-12)
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75;
At least 30 undergraduate credits in the subject area;
A passing score on the PRAXIS II examination in the appropriate subject area;
Two letters of recommendation;
A personal interview with a program advisor.

Master of Science in Nursing
Graduation from a NLN or AACN accredited baccalaureate nursing program, with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0;
Registered Nurse licensure;
Three letters of recommendation;
Two essays evidencing suitability for graduate study in nursing;
Proficiency in written and spoken English;
A personal interview may be required at the discretion of the faculty.


Transcripts
Applicants are responsible for submitting official transcripts from all colleges, universities, professional and technical schools previously attended. Note: An official transcript is one which has been signed by the registrar, carries the school seal and has been sent directly from the school to the Office of Admissions.

Letters of Recommendation
Two to three letters of recommendation are required for the graduate degree programs in Nursing and Education.

PRAXIS Examinations
Applicants for the Master of Arts in Teaching degree are required to take the appropriate PRAXIS II Exam prior to matriculation in the program. Undergraduate students enrolled in the QUEST Combined B.A. / M.A.T. Degree Program are required to take the appropriate PRAXIS II Exam prior to enrolling in graduate level coursework.

Test Scores
To be included in an applicant’s admission file, an official PRAXIS score sheet must be sent to the Office of University Partnerships. The correct campus code number for Fairleigh Dickinson University is 2263.

International Applicants
Applicants who are not U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents of the U.S. should not complete the enclosed application form. Please call the Office of International Admissions at 201-692-2205 to request an International Student Application Form.

Phi Theta Kappa Grants
Undergraduate students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa are eligible for a Tuition Grant of $50.00 per credit. To be considered for the grant, applicants must submit a copy of their Phi Theta Kappa membership certificate with the application for admission..
