Executive/Scholars:

What is it?
Executive/Scholars was created for the purpose of offering outstanding students from the FDU college of Business Administratration a unique opportunity to improve skills needed to successfully make the transition from life as a student to life in the business world. It also enables the student to understand the various disciplines and become better aware of the jobs in their fields of interest.

History:
In 1989 Dr. Richard N. Ottaway founded this undergraduate program. Heading into its eleventh academic year, the Executive/Scholars program provides an excellent opportunity for undergraduate participants to:
- Explore various jobs in the business world so the student can better work possibilities with his/her aptitudes, interests and abilities.
- Improve resume and develop interviewing and networking skills.
- Examine the link between academic knowledge and real business situations through discussions and career planning sessions.

What else is offered?
This program pairs each student with an executive at participating corporation. Companies include: AT&T, Schering-Plough, American Home Products, GPU, and Summit Bank, just to name a few. Students are able to attend monthly breakfast seminars with executives and paired with an executive for a five day project in a corporate setting.

Admittance Standards:
To be eligible a student must be a full-time junior in the College of Business Administration on the Madison campus, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and an expected graduation date of no sooner than December 1999.

CHRMS Involvement:
Since 1993 Mr. Jerry Dawson, the Executive Director of CHRMS, has been the advisor for the Executive/Scholars Program. A CHRMS Graduate Assistant works with Jerry to manage the program each new academic year.
