"Will I ever see my professor and other students in my class?"

By its very definition, an online course is designed so that students can learn without necessarily meeting one another in a traditional, face-to-face environment.

However, Fairleigh Dickinson University's Distance Learning Initiative is somewhat unique in that it has been designed to prepare students to participate in learning that is exclusively conducted in an online environment. In other words, at the end of your four years at FDU, you will be able to take a course in an entirely online environment!

To progress toward this objective, your distance learning courses at FDU will have some face-to-face meetings. Usually, these meetings will take place during the first couple of weeks of the semester, to review the webcampus interface and to get an overall overview of the course. Attendance at these scheduled meetings is mandatory!

In addition, since many of FDU's students live on campus, you have the opportunity to meet with other students in your section at any time. Just because the course is online doesn't mean you're not allowed to meet with one another or with your instructor!
