**BSEE holders
Students with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering are
eligible for admission with full matriculation upon submission and
favorable evaluation of undergraduate records, Graduate Record
Examination (Aptitude Test) scores, and three letters of recommendation.
**Holders of Bachelor's Degrees in Other Fields
Students with degrees in the sciences, engineering (other than
electrical), and engineering technology may be admitted to the program after
they satisfy specific undergraduate course requirements as indicated below,
as well as the prerequisites necessary to take these courses.
**Non-Matriculant Status
An applicant seeking matriculant status, but has applied too
late to complete all requirements, may be allowed to register as a
non-matriculant student. Such students will be allowed to take up to nine
credits while completing the requirements
for admission. This status doesn't guarantee that the student will become a
matriculated student. If matriculant status is granted, those credits
earned may be applied toward degree requirements.
**International Students
International students must meet all admission criteria to be
accepted as a full-time graduate student. Applicants are considered to be
international students if they are not citizens of the United States or
registered alien residents. In addition, the Test
of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required for all
applicants whose native language is not English. The University recommends
a paper-based TOEFL score of at least 550 (computer-based score of at least
213). Students with TOEFL scores of 515 t0 549 (computer-based scores of 185
to 212) may be considered for admission and they, however, may be required
to take intensive English course work. Only applicants
from English-speaking Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New
Zealand, or graduates of a U.S. institution are exempted from the TOEFL
examination.
The on-line MSEE program is designed to be taken entirely over the Internet. International students will be able to complete the entire degree program in their countries without coming to the U.S.A. International students, who choose to come to the U.S.A. to study, must give evidence of financial support for a period of time equivalent to one academic year and need to obtain a student visa (F-1). Moreover, they must study at the University's campus for at least two semesters, September through May, and must carry at least three courses (9 credits) each semester if maintaining student visa status.
**Non-Degree Student
An applicant seeking admission as a non-degree student must present
evidence of successful completion of an undergraduate program at a
regionally accredited institution of higher learning. A non-degree student
who subsequently seeks matriculation must reapply for consideration and
must meet all current admission criteria.
**Required Undergraduate Courses for MSEE-degree Candidates with non-EE Bachelor's Degrees (Current FDU Course in Brackets)
**plus four additional courses from the following areas
These course requirements may be satisfied through the use of "Challenge Exams" or through successful completion of equivalent courses at other accredited institutions. Upon request from the applicant, the School of Computer Sciences and Engineering will judge the equivalency of such courses.
For students attending the Bachelor of Science in Electrical
Engineering Technology program at Fairleigh Dickinson University,
a sheet is available showing the electives and substitutions that
will allow direct admission to the MSEE program.
