ABI/INFORM Complete - ABI/INFORM Complete consists of three business databases, ABI/INFORM Global, ABI/INFORM Dateline, and ABI/INFORM Trade & Industry.  In ABI/INFORM Global you can search 1000 premier worldwide business periodicals for information on advertising, marketing, economics, human resources, finance, taxation, computers, and more.  ABI/INFORM Dateline covers more than 140 local, city, state, and regional business publications as well as business-oriented newswire services across the U.S. and Canada.  ABI/INFORM Trade and Industry covers more than 700 publications. It is designed to help researchers study and compare specific trades and industries, including telecommunications, computing, transportation, construction, petrochemicals, and many others.  Access provided by VALE.

 

Academic Search Premier - Academic Search Premier, designed specifically for academic institutions, is the largest scholarly, multi-disciplinary full text database containing full text for more than 3,600 scholarly publications, including more than 2,700 peer-reviewed publications.  Access provided by VALE.

A search engine on the ACS Publications website can be used to search for articles across all ACS journals; however, with the exception of articles in some free sample issues, only articles from journals listed above are available to FDU users in full text. For other articles, see a librarian for availability or fill out an interlibrary loan request. The ACS Publications website also offers free e-mail alerting services for ACS journal articles and tables of contents.

 

American Humanities Index - The American Humanities Index is a collection of bibliographic references to literary, scholarly and creative journals published in the United States and Canada. Produced by Whitston Publishing, this database covers over 1,000 journals published from 1975 to the present, many of which cannot be found in other reference works. All journals included in the American Humanities Index are indexed in their entirety (cover to cover). This database provides citation information for articles, essays and reviews, as well as original creative works including, poems, fiction, photographs, paintings and illustrations.

 

Banking Information Source - Banking Information Source (with 283 titles) is made up of essential banking management publications, state association journals, industry newsletters, and professional newsletters. It provides full-text access to nearly 120 active titles, including 15 peer-reviewed titles and 99 titles that are not available in any other ProQuest database. Coverage is national as well as international in scope and includes retail and commercial banking, credit unions, mortgage banking, bank technology, bank management and advertising, agricultural lending, and electronic banking.  Access provided by VALE.

 

Books In Print - Books In Print is an index of all books in print. Access to the Bowker Publishers Authority Database, a comprehensive database of over 165,000 publishers, distributors, wholesalers and book agents.  Access provided by VALE.

 

Business and Company Resource Center - Business and Company Resource Center is a fully integrated resource bringing together company profiles, brand information, rankings, investment reports, company histories, chronologies and periodicals. Predicast PROMT, Newsletters ASAP and Thomson Financial Investext Plus databases are fully integrated in this database. Search this database to find Itemed company and industry news and information.

 

CIAO (Columbia International Affairs Online) - Columbia International Affairs Online (CIAO) is the most comprehensive source for theory and research in international affairs. It publishes a wide range of scholarship from 1991 onward that includes working papers from university research institutes, occasional papers series from NGOs, foundation-funded research projects, proceedings from conferences, books, journals and policy briefs. CIAO is also widely-recognized source for teaching materials including original case studies written by leading international affairs experts, course packs of background readings for history and political science classes, and special features like the analysis of a bin Laden recruitment tape with video.

 

CINAHL - Nursing Health Literature - CINAHL, the Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature, provides indexing and abstracting for over 1,600 current nursing and allied health journals and other publications dating back to 1982 and contains over 700,000 records. Offering complete coverage of English-language nursing journals and publications from the National League for Nursing and the American Nurse Association, this database covers nursing, biomedicine, health sciences librarianship, alternative complementary medicine, consumer health and 17 allied health disciplines. Examples of titles offered in CINAHL include: AANA Journal, California Hospitals, Gastroenterology Nursing, Maternal and Child Health Journal, Paediatric Nursing, Parents, etc. In addition, CINAHL offers access to health care books, nursing dissertations, selected conference proceedings, standards of practice, educational software, audiovisuals and book chapters. This database also provides full text for 56 journals plus legal cases, clinical innovations, critical paths, drug records, research instruments, clinical trial.  Access provided by VALE.

 

Communication and Mass Media Complete - Communication & Mass Media Complete provides research solutions in areas related to communication and mass media.  This database originated with the merging of two popular databases in the fields of communication and mass media studies -- CommSearch (formerly produced by the National Communication Association (NCA)), and Mass Media Articles Index (formerly produced by Pennsylvania State University). CommSearch offered bibliographic and keyword references to 26 journals in communication studies, with coverage extending to the inaugural issue of each -- some from as far back as the early decades of the 20th century. It also included cover-to-cover indices of NCA’s six journals (from their first editions to the present), and abstracts from their earliest appearance in NCA journals. Mass Media Articles Index provided citation coverage of over 40,000 articles related to mass media and published in over 60 research journals, as well as major journalism reviews, recent encyclopedias, and handbooks in the area of communications studies. EBSCO has combined the extensive coverage of these two resources, and has greatly expanded upon them (both in terms of content and scope) to create CMMC.  Communication & Mass Media Complete offers full text for over 200 titles and contains citation coverage for additional sources. In total, several hundred valuable sources are covered.

 

Contemporary Authors - Provides complete biographical and bibliographical information and references on approximately 100,000 U.S. and international authors.

 

CountryWatch - CountryWatch is a world leader in providing country specific geopolitical intelligence on each of the 192 countries of the world. Select a country from the drop-down menu above or from the regional menu on the left to sample our information.

 

Criminal Justice Abstracts - Criminal Justice Abstracts provides comprehensive coverage of the major journals in criminology and related disciplines.

 

EJS: The Electronic Journal Service (EBSCO)  - The subscription agency (EBSCO) through which FDU libraries purchase their print journals also provides on-campus and off-campus online access to the full text of some 400 of these print journals, representing numerous disciplines. Dates of online availability vary with the journal. Articles in the database are searchable.

 

Engineering Village 2  - Engineering Village has been the leader in providing online information, knowledge, and support of the highest professional relevance for research and industrial practitioners in applied physical sciences and engineering.

 

Encyclopedia of Life Sciences - The Encyclopedia of Life Sciences (ELS) is the largest and most comprehensive reference work ever published in the biological sciences.  Access provided by VALE.

 

ERIC - ERIC, the Educational Resource Information Center, is a national information system supported by the U.S. Department of Education, the National Library of Education, and the Office of Educational Research and Improvement. It provides access to information from journals included in the Current Index of Journals in Education and Resources in Education Index. ERIC provides full text of more than 2,200 digests along with references for additional information and citations and abstracts from over 1000 educational and education-related journals.  Access provided by VALE.

 

Ethnic Newswatch  - Ethnic Newswatch contains news, culture and history from 200+ publications of the ethnic, minority and native press. Available in English and Spanish.  Access provided by VALE.

 

Facts On File - Facts On File is a database with the following subjects: Science, History, Multicultural, Geography, Health, Career Guidance.

 

Grove Dictionary of Art - The Grove Dictionary of Art is a comprehensive online reference resource for all aspects of the visual arts worldwide from prehistory to the present day.  Access provided by VALE.

 

Grove Dictionary of Music - The Grove Dictionary of Music is a comprehensive online reference tool full text biography and interpretation.  Access provided by VALE.

 

Hoovers Company Information - In-depth company information on over 5,000 companies with Hoover's Company Profiles. Each profile provides an overview and history, as well as as information on key people, products, subsidiaries and competitors.
 
InfoTrac OneFile Plus - A one-stop source for news and periodical articles on a wide range of topics: business, computers, current events, economics, education, environmental issues, health care, hobbies, humanities, law, literature and art, politics, science, social science, sports, technology, and many general interest topics. Millions of full-text articles, many with images. Updated daily. 

 

Lexis-Nexis Congressional - Lexis-Nexis Congressional provides complete and thorough access to the full text of congressional working papers and legislation. It includes access to a wide variety of information about Congress, including member biographical and committee assignment information, voting records, financial data, and the full text of the Congressional Record. It also provides access to the full text of key regulatory and statutory resources. LexisNexis Congressional service provides access to more than 25 years of congressional information. Content of this database includes hearing transcripts and submitted testimony from 1988 forward; committee reports from 1989 forward; all versions of legislation introduced from 1989 forward; bill tracking reports from 1989 forward; selected committee prints from 1995 forward; congressional documents from 1995 forward; congressional Record from 1985 forward; Federal Register from 1980 forward; current Code of Federal Regulations; current U.S. Code; public laws from 1988 forward.

 

MLA International Bibliography - The MLA International Bibliography, produced by the Modern Language Association of America, consists of bibliographic records pertaining to literature, language, linguistics, and folklore, from 1963 to the present. The database provides access to scholarly research in nearly 4,000 journals and series. It also covers relevant monographs, working papers, proceedings, bibliographies, and other formats. Access provided by VALE.

 

PAIS International - The PAIS International database is produced by OCLC Public Affairs Information Service. It is a bibliographic index to the literature of public policy, social policy, and the social sciences in general. Journal articles; books; government documents; statistical compilations; committee reports; directories; serials; reports of public, intergovernmental, and private organizations; and most other forms of printed literature from all over the world are indexed.

 

Pre-CINAHL - A companion database to CINAHL, Pre-CINAHL is intended to provide current awareness of new journal articles, and includes a rotating file of
limited bibliographic information (no subject searching), which are available to researchers only for the time when these articles are being assigned additional indexing. This enables users to gain access to article citations that otherwise would not be available. Once the bibliographic records are complete, they are added to the CINAHL database and removed from Pre-CINAHL.

 

Predicast PROMT - Predicast Overview of Markets and Technology. Use this database to research companies, the products and technologies they produce, and the markets in which they compete. Includes summaries and full text from nearly 1,000 business and trade journals, industry newsletters, newspapers, market research studies, news releases, and investment and brokerage firm reports.

 

Proquest - Search Proquest for information from over 1800 newspapers and periodicals on a wide range of topics including the arts, business, humanities, health, social sciences, sciences.

 

PsycInfo - PsycINFO contains more than one million citations and summaries of journal articles, book chapters, books, dissertations and technical reports, all in the field of psychology. Journal coverage, which spans from 1887 to present, includes international material selected from more than 1,700 periodicals in over 35 languages. More than 60,000 records are added each year. It also includes information about the psychological aspects of related disciplines such as medicine, psychiatry, nursing, sociology, education, pharmacology, physiology, linguistics, anthropology, business and law. Examples of titles offered in PsycINFO include: Academic Medicine, Academic Psychiatry, Behavior Genetics, Behavioral Disorders, Journal of Abnormal Child Psychology, Journal of Applied Social Psychology, Journal of Behavioral Medicine, Journal of Psychiatry & Neuroscience, Journal of Psychology, Psychoanalytic Psychology, Psychological Assessment, Psychological Medicine, etc.  Access provided by VALE.

 

ScienceDirect - In Science Direct there are over 1700 journals including top titles such as The Lancet, Cell and Tetrahedron Over three million articles and over 59 million abstracts from all fields of science Articles are available online before appearing in print Articles in Press: rapid access to recently accepted articles.    Full text is available only for articles published in the current or 5 previous calendar years. Access provided by VALE.

 

Social Services Abstracts - CSA Social Services Abstracts provides bibliographic coverage of current research focused on social work, human services, and related areas, including social welfare, social policy, and community development. The database abstracts and indexes over 1,500 serials publications and includes abstracts of journal articles and dissertations, and citations to book reviews.

 

Sociological Abstracts - Sociological Abstracts, published by Cambridge Scientific Abstracts under license from Sociological Abstracts LLC, contains information from approximately 2500 journals in 30 different languages from about 55 countries. It covers sociology and related disciplines by including bibliographic citations and abstracts and enhanced dissertation citations from Dissertation Abstracts International.

 

Westlaw - Westlaw is West's online legal research service. It provides fast and easy access to an extensive collection of legal resources, news, business, and public records information. (available in library only, ask librarian for assistance)

 

Wilson Web - Social Sciences Full Text, produced by The H. W. Wilson Company, is a bibliographic database that indexes and abstracts articles of at least one column in length from English-language periodicals published in the United States and elsewhere plus the full text of selected periodicals. Coverage includes a wide range of interdisciplinary fields covered in a broad array of social sciences journals. Abstracting coverage begins with periodicals published in January 1994. Abstracts range from 50 to 300 words and describe the content and scope of the source articles. Full text coverage begins in January 1995

 

xreferplus - xreferplus is a giant online reference library that provides you with access to a selection of reference books from a total of 150. xreferplus includes encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauri and books of quotations, not to mention a range of subject-specific titles covering everything from art to accountancy and literature to law.
