RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN THE ASSESSMENT OF CHILDREN

The Workshop: This workshop is based on the Assessment of Children: Cognitive Foundations, Fifth Edition (2008) by Jerome M. Sattler. It will cover the latest developments in the assessment of cognitive ability of children. Topics include (a) ethical, legal, and professional applications of assessment practices, (b) issues related to the measurement and change of intelligence, (c) Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children–IV (WISC–IV) (d) Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence–III (WPPSI–III) (e) Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scales, Fifth Edition (SB5), (f) Differential Ability Scales–Second Edition (DAS–II), (g) assessment of intelligence with specialized measures, and (h) Individuals with Disabilities Improvement Act (IDEA).

Time will be allotted for questions and answers, for book signing, and for pictures with Dr. Sattler.

When and Where: Friday, April 25, 2008 Wilson Auditorium, Dickinson Hall, FDU Teaneck-Hackensack Campus. The morning session will run from 9 to 11:30, followed by a break for lunch (on your own), and the afternoon session will run from 1 to 3:00.

**Price: The cost of this full day workshop is $100.  All attendees will receive a copy of Dr. Sattler’s newest book, Assessment of Children: Cognitive Foundations, Fifth Edition (2008), an $85 value, as part of the registration fee.

Sattler, Publisher.  Because each participant will be provided Dr. Sattler’s book at the workshop, we ask that all reservations be made by April 4th. (This will allow us time to have the books sent from the publisher in time for the workshop.)

About the presenter: Jerome Sattler is a Diplomate in Clinical Psychology of the American Board of Professional Psychology. Currently, he is Professor Emeritus and an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at San Diego State University . In 1998 he received the Senior Scientist Award from the Division of School Psychology of the American Psychological Association. In 2003, he received an honorary Doctor of Sciences degree from Central Missouri State University . In 2005, he received the Gold Medal Award for Life Achievement in the Application of Psychology from the American Psychological Foundation. His books include Assessment of Children, Cognitive Applications (Fourth Edition), Assessment of Children, Behavioral, Social, and Clinical Foundation (Fifth Edition; with Robert Hoge), Assessment of Children: WISC–IV AND WPPSI–III Supplement (with Ron Dumont ), and Clinical and Forensic Interviewing of Children and Families. He has published over 100 articles in the fields of school and clinical psychology and is a co-author of the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale: Fourth Edition. All editions of Assessment of Children have been translated into Spanish.

Wilson Auditorium is located in Dickinson Hall on the Hackensack campus of FDU.  From NJ Route 4 take the Hackensack Avenue Exit.  Proceed to the first traffic light at Temple Avenue.  Turn left onto Temple Avenue.  Dickinson Hall is the last building on the left, just before the athletic complex.
 
PARKING:  Please park only in the visitors’ lot located at the end of Temple Avenue, just before the athletic complex.  This is a large lot with Dickinson Hall located to your left and the Rothman Athletic Complex in front of you.
