Overview
The Differential Ability Scales - Scoring Assistant (DAS-SA) takes
the results of the Differential Ability Scales (1991) and compiles
them into a concise report and summary. When you enter an
individual's case data and ability scores into the Background
Information, and QUICKSCORE screens, DAS-SA will automatically
convert the Ability Scores to the appropriate Scaled Scores and
Standard Scores. Once you have entered the necessary demographic data
and scores, you can generate a summary report.
What You Need to Use DAS-SA
- Macintosh System 7.0 or later.
- 4 MB of RAM
- Hard disk with 3 MB of available space

Figure 1.3 is a summary flow chart depicting the Screens which are

Screens]
NOTE: Only Upper Preschool and School Age levels
produce reports. For Out of Level and Lower Preschool levels,
printing is available only in the QUICKSCORE screen. Background
Information and Extended GCA Screens cannot be printed. (Refer to
Chapter 3)
The DAS-SA is complete with an auditory Welcome message that may
be heard if your computer is appropriately equipped. If you are so
equipped you will hear a voice saying" Welcome to the DAS Scoring
Assistant". In any event after seeing the Welcome screen the Case
Choices screen allows you to choose between the seven options: Lower
Preschool, Preschool, School Age, Out of Level Help, Open Saved
Cases, Open Saved Report and Quit DAS-SA. (see figure 1.4 below)
Simply click on the desired choice button and the program will
advance accordingly. The next screen that appears will display a
progress bar as well as a voice saying" One moment please", (if your
computer is so equipped). The appropriate tables are then loaded into
the program. The Next Screen automatically displayed will be the
Background Information Screen unless you have selected either of the
Open selections or the Help or Quit selections.
