Frequently Asked Questions
about the Computer Software
What do I need to run the software?
All the software are Microsoft Excel
Templates. Excel is a spreadsheet program that is part of the Microsoft
Office application. If you do not have Excel, you cannot run the programs.
Sorry.
Some templates are saved as a "stuffed" file (to save space
on the server and to save download time. If you download a file and it ends
with the extension: .sit you will need to un stuff the file before you can use
it. To "un stuff" the program you must have the free Aladdin Expander found at
http://www.stuffit.com/expander/
Will any other spreadsheet programs run the
templates?
No
I have the template but I don't know if I have
Excel?
After downloading the file to your hard drive, double click on the template.
If you have Excel, the program will automatically start. If it doesn't,
you probably don't have Excel.
I keep getting a message that says the cells are
protected. Do I need a password?
No. the cells are protected to prevent the over-writing of formulae.
Use the tab key to move prom cell to cell. The tab key will only take you
to cells that need and allow entry. We will not give out the password.
I entered some data but nothing happened?
The programs were originally written with the calculation process set to
manual. If you enter data and nothing seems to change use the Function 9
key (f9). That should make values change.
The recent templates have been designed with calculations set to automatic.
I get a message saying that the template is "linked"
to other data. It asks if I want to update the link? What do I do?
Simply click continue. The link is an "orphan" that came from a very
early version of one of the templates. By choosing continue, as opposed to
update, the program should work just fine.
