Incomplete Words, Item #7

Recently, I have had two different students provide the response of "derby" for the Incomplete Words item #7. I consulted my Webster's Dictionary and sure enough, the pronunciation is the same. Does any one know, is this an acceptable response??

I have checked with the people responsible for scoring the WJ III norming data and they agree that "derby" is an acceptable response.

The answer given on the easel doesn't seem to work. The large square given as the correct answer is too big to match the design, yet the smaller square is too small. It turns out there is no correct answer.
