Laundry (on-site) - Each residence hall is equipped with multiple washers and dryers for student use. Most floors in the Twomblys, Rutherford Hall and Park Avenue have floor laundry rooms. The smaller Village Residence Halls have one laundry room located on the first floor of each building. The machines are free of charge to residents. We ask the students use liquid detergent when using campus washers. [ back to top ] Laundry (Pick Up) - The University has partnered with United Laundry Services, to provide students with an economical and convenient alternative to our on-campus self-service laundry. Card Access - Each residence hall's entry doors may be accessed using students Fairleigh 1Card. Generally, resident's access is limited to their own residence hall. However, all students may access the Florence Twombly Porch (Near the Academic Support Center and Twombly Lounge entrances 9am-11pm to access the Academic Support Center, Office of Campus Life Administration, Twombly Lounge and Mailboxes. All residents enjoy "keyless" residence halls where their 1Card opens resident bedrooms as well as the entry doors. [ back to top ] 1Card Cash - In addition to acting as your student ID card, meal card and granting you access to residence hall locations your Fairleigh 1Card can be linked to an additional declining balance account. These funds may be used at the Bookstore, on-campus dining locations, vending machines and many off-campus merchants. For more information visit www.fairleigh1card.com. [ back to top ] Meal Plans - All residents are required to participate in a campus meal plan. Meal Plans consists of a recurring number of meals per week in the main student dining hall located in the Student Center and a semester allotment of Flex dollars which may be used at the other on-campus dining venues. Flex dollars roll over from Fall to Spring but expire at the end of the Spring semester. Meal Plan A (11 Meals & $300 flex) is the standard resident meal plan assigned to most students. Park Avenue residents are assigned the reduced Meal Plan F (5 Meals & $375 flex). Residents in Park Avenue may also select Meal Plan D. Note: Residents not residing in Park Avenue may not select the reduced meal plan option. For costs and other meal plan options see the Fees section. [ back to top ] Phone Service - Through FDU SMART Communications (formally FDU Mobile) and Sprint Campus Connect Fairleigh Dickinson continues to be a leader in mobile technology, and offers a series of safety and mobile academic applications through Rave Wireless and available on any carriers cell phones. The University has also partnered with Sprint Inc., who has built a custom network on campus. In addition to Sprint's coverage and capacity advantages, the University will be subsidizing $20 per month on Sprint rate plans for any resident student who takes advantage of the new special phone program being offered by Sprint through the University. That program offers any student an additional 10% discount on all Sprint rate plans with the exception of the Simply Everything Plan. The $20 subsidy will be applied to your Fairleigh1card. Of course, all students, regardless of carrier, can enjoy the benefits of all the FDU SMART mobile features. Mail - The University provides US mail service to students who sign up for an on campus mailbox. Only students who specifically request a mailbox are assigned one. Those opting into the mail program can receive regular US mail, such as magazines, letters, bills, postcards, etc. Mail is delivered to student boxes each weekday when classes are in session. Student mailboxes are located outside Twombly Lounge in Hamilton Twombly Hall. All students, whether or not they sign up for mail services, can receive trackable packages which require a signature, such as UPS and FedEx. All packages will be held at the central campus mailroom located in the basement of the Mansion. The campus mailroom cannot accept delivery of student mail prior to the start of the Fall semester. [ back to top ] Mail, including packages, to students with mailboxes should be addressed as follows: Packages for students without mailboxes should be addressed as follows: Internet - Each resident is provided with an ethernet port in their residence hall room. Students should have a Ethernet network card (included in almost all newer PCs) in order to connect to the University network. Residents are required to download the Clean Access software package before utilizing the campus network. This software package is designed to protect the user and university systems from viruses and other malicious programs. For more information, visit the Computing website. Currently wireless internet access is not provided in student rooms. In the residence halls wireless access is limited to Twombly Lounge. Most campus academic buildings, library and Student Center do support wireless access to the University Community. Storage - The University does not offer any in-house short-term or summer storage. Residence Hall Updates - Periodically the Office of Campus Life will send reminders, residence hall news and other important information to students via our Residence Hall Updates. These email, sent to resident students' University Webmail account is a fast and easy way for the university to communicate with resident students. Students are expected to check their Webmail often and will be responsible for information distributed to it. Parents can also signup to receive copies of the Residence Hall Updates. [ back to top ]
