Panthers Hold on to Defeat Knights, 7-4
Nugent goes 2-for-4 with two RBI, McLaughlin goes 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Bradenton, Fla. – The Fairleigh Dickinson University baseball team dropped a 7-4 decision to Northern Iowa this afternoon. The Knights fell to 1-8 on the year, while the Panthers improved to 9-3 overall.
Fairleigh Dickinson trailed 7-1 heading into the eighth inning. Lenny Armenti led the final frame off by reaching on an error by the third baseman.  A.J. DiMichele followed with an infield single and both runners advanced an extra base on an errant throw by the second baseman. Matt Nugent then drove them both in with a triple down the right field line to cut the deficit to 7-3 and scored on a wild pitch to trim it to 7-4. That would be as close as the Knights would get as Matt Thissen came in to shut the door in the ninth.
Nugent finished the day 2-for-4 and Tom McLaughlin went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Gregg Pleeter (0-2) went four innings for the Knights, allowing five runs and fanning five.  Joe Gorgoglione also pitched well for FDU, giving up two runs in four innings on just one hit.
The Knights return to action on Tuesday, March 19th, when they take on Northeastern at 2:30 p.m.
