Terriers take two from FDU Baseball
Knights fall 9-5 in opener, 7-0 in nightcap.

Teaneck, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson University baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to visiting St. Francis (NY) this afternoon, 9-5 and 7-0.  The Knights fell to 6-28 overall and 4-16 in NEC play, while the Terriers improved to 17-17 overall and 13-7 in the NEC.

            The Terriers scored four times in the fifth inning and added a single run in the sixth and two in the seventh to capture the opener.  Trailing 4-2, St. Francis (NY) center fielder Jason Iorio led the fifth off with a double to center field. Later in the inning, Mike Molinini doubled in two runs to tie it up at 4-4 and Ron Scrimenti knocked in two more with a single.

            The Knights got one back in the bottom of the frame to pull the score to 6-5. Lenny Armenti drove in the run for FDU, but St. Francis (NY) got it right back in the sixth on a Greg Colonna single and put the game away with two in the seventh on a home run by Scrimenti.

            Anthony Esposito went the distance for the Terriers, striking out five to earn the win. Iorio, Colonna and Scrimenti each went 2-for-4 in the game, with Scrimenti driving in four. The Knights had 12 hits in the contest, led by A.J. DiMichele and Lenny Armenti each going 3-for-4.

            In the nightcap the Terriers got a run in the second inning and then posted five unearned runs in the third to pull ahead quickly, 6-0.  They added one more in the sixth for the final margin of 7-0.

            St. Francis (NY) recorded 11 hits in game two.  Molinini led the attack, going 3-for-3 with an RBI and Scrimenti went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

            Matt Bailey went the distance for the Terriers, holding the Knights to just three hits.  Jesse Thomas, Pat Geroni and Andrew Parise each had a hit for Fairleigh Dickinson.

            The two teams will lock up on Sunday for the final game of the series at 12:00 p.m. on FDU Field.
