Fairleigh Dickinson Baseball Falls 13-4 at Iona

New Rochelle, N.Y.The Fairleigh Dickinson University baseball team dropped a 13-4 decision at the hands of host Iona College on Wednesday afternoon.  The Knights fell to 7-35 overall, while the Gaels improved to 18-25.
          Iona put up four runs in the first inning to take an early lead on Knights' starter Brent Savin (Wantagh, N.Y.). The first two runs scored on bases loaded walks and Matt Martin knocked in the next two with a single.
          The Knights got one back in the top of the second inning and got two more in the third to cut the deficit to 4-3.  Lenny Armenti (Bloomfield, N.J.) gave the Knights and RBI double and Pat Geroni (Pt. Pleasant, N.J.) drove in another with a single.
          The Gaels quickly struck for five in the bottom of the third and three more in the fifth to pull ahead 12-3 and didn't look back from there.  Anthony Castaldo (Manalapan, N.J.) gave the Knights a sacrifice fly in the eight, but Iona got it back in the bottom of the frame for the final margin of 13-4.
          Geroni led the Knights' offense, going 2-for-3 with his RBI. The Knights return to action on Saturday, May 11th when they host NEC foe Mount St. Mary's for a doubleheader at 12 p.m.  The Knights will hold an Alumni Game prior to the doubleheader beginning at 9:30 a.m.
