Fairleigh Dickinson University is home to the 5,000 seat George and Phyllis Rothman Center. The center provides all FDU students with an exceptional recreational, athletic and convocation facility while providing a convenient site for concerts, lectures and other social and cultural events. The Rothman Center, which opened on September 9, 1987, houses the NCAA Division I Athletics Department office as well as serving as the home court for women's volleyball, fencing, menıs and womenıs basketball and indoor track and field teams. The 12-year old facility is not limited to FDU activities. It has hosted lectures and concerts as well as dignitaries such as Presidents George Bush and Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore. The Rothman Center is a 40,000-square foot facility with an indoor four-lane, 200 meter track, full size wooden basketball court, three racquetball courts, eight locker rooms and a public and varsity weight room. The Elia Stratis Mezzanine Lounge overlooks the basketball court. A training room is available to all varsity athletes, which includes whirlpools. The main basketball court was refinished during the 1999 summer with a new halfcourt design that features the Knights' logo. |
