FDU Names Joseph Wisniewski Head Golf Coach

HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Fairleigh Dickinson University Director of Athletics Steve Hurlbut announced the hiring of Joseph Wisniewski as the University's new Head Golf Coach today. "We are very delighted to have Joe take over the program," said Hurlbut. "Joe brings a tremendous background with him to our campus and we look forward to watching the golf program continue to grow under his dedication and guidance."

Wisniewski takes over the FDU golf program which has been one of the athletics department's most successful programs. The Knights won six consecutive Northeast Conference Golf Tournament titles and have won seven team titles in the history of the golf championship. "I'm really excited to join the staff at FDU," said Wisniewski. "I'm a student of the game of golf. It's my passion and I'm looking forward to sharing it with the student-athletes."

Wisniewski is a veteran coach, educator and administrator. His most recent post was as Superintendant in Weehawken, N.J., where he retired in 1995. Wisniewski also served a stint as Director of Athletics at Weehawken and headed up the school's varsity football program from 1967-70 and again in 1974. Prior to his days at Weehawken, Wisniewski also coached wrestling, football and baseball at Cliffside Park High School from 1962-1967. The Rutherford, N.J. resident currently attends the Colbert Ballard Golf School and the prestigious John Jacob Professional Golf School. During his 30-year golf career, Wisniewski has participated in 15 World Amateur Handicap Championships.

Wisniewski graduated in 1962 from Montclair State University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Education. He was a member of the varsity golf team at Montclair State and went on to receive his Master of Arts in Administration from Montclair State. Wisniewski will begin his position effective immediately.
