1999 Hall of Fame Inductee
Marcus Gaither

The only member of the inaugural induction class from a men's basketball team is the 12th member of the class, MARCUS GAITHER '84. Gaither set the standard for the great FDU basketball players of the late 1980s. Gaither's dedication to the Knights' program laid the groundwork for the Northeast Conference Championships and the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament appearances which went with those championships in 1985 and 1988. Gaither finished his four-year career at FDU in 1984 by setting a new school record as FDU's all-time leading scorer with 1,815 points, which stood for seven years. In his career at FDU, Gaither ranks fifth all-time with 465 field goals made and third with 369 assists. He led the Knights' in scoring for three consecutive years (1981-1984) and posted a career-high 22.9 points per games in the 1982-'83 season.
