1999 Hall of Fame Inductee
Bob Metz

Helping the transition from FDU's first A.D. Harvey Woods to the school's second full-time athletics director Stan Wright was 32-year athletic administrator, BOB METZ. Metz bridged the gap between Woods and Wright by serving as Acting Director of Athletics from 1979 through 1980. In his 32-year career at FDU, Metz served as intramural director, wrestling coach, golf coach, professor and chairman of the physical education department. As Head Golf Coach, Metz started a tradition of excellence which continues today. In 1966 he led the FDU team to the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Golf Championships. Almost 20 years later, Metz led his squad to the inaugural Northeast Conference Golf Championship and was named Coach of the Year for his work. As the school's wrestling coach, Metz coached for 12 seasons and had 12 individuals win Metropolitan Championships in the events nine-year history.
