Santos classmate, FDU baseball pitcher BILL POLLACK '60, is the next inductee into this year's Hall of Fame. Pollack was a record-setting pitcher in his two-year career at FDU. As a junior in 1959, Pollack posted a single-season record of eight victories without losing a contest. The eight wins stills stands 40 years later as the school record, but has been tied by three other pitchers. Pollack also set the school record for strikeouts in a season as a junior, setting down 90 batters. As a senior in 1960, Pollack won six games to give him 14 career wins, which puts him sixth on the career victories list. He set a school record, which since has been tied, with seven complete games. Pollack also totalled 81.1 innings pitched, which ranks third in the record books. A two-time All-Collegiate League first-team selection, Pollack became the first FDU player to sign a bonus contract when he signed with the Washington Senators in 1960. |
