Dickinson Men’s Hoops Falls at Sacred Heart, 75-63 Fairfield,
Conn. – The Fairleigh Dickinson University men’s basketball team fell by a
score of 75-63, at the hands of host Sacred Heart University this evening.
The Knights fell to 2-14 overall and 2-5 in NEC play, while the Pioneers
improved to 5-9 overall and 4-3 in NEC action.
Senior center James Felton paced the Knights with 22 points, eight
rebounds and four assists. Maurice
Bailey led four Sacred Heart players in double-digits with 17 points. After
trailing by as many as seven points in the first frame, the Knights took a brief
one-point lead before heading into the break down 32-31.
Felton tallied 16 of his points during the first 20 minutes. The
Knights trailed 50-38 with 12:19 remaining before making a 10-4 run to pull
within six (54-48) with 9:19 left. Sacred
Heart would go back up by 10 and the Knights would cut the deficit to six points
once more, but could pull no closer. Matt
Hammond added 17 points for Fairleigh Dickinson on 8-of-15 from the field.
Mensah Peterson chipped in seven points and three steals in 23 minutes
off the bench. The
Knights return to action on Saturday, January 19th when they host
Robert Morris at 7:00 p.m.
