Dickinson Places Two on All-Met Basketball Teams
Marchanka named to second team, Hammond earns
third team honors.

Rutherford, N.J. – Two
players from Fairleigh Dickinson University’s basketball teams were honored at
tonight’s 69th Annual NIT/Haggerty Awards Dinner held at the
Meadowlands, Pegasus West. Men’s
basketball player Matt Hammond (Burlington, N.J.) was named
All-Metropolitan Third Team for his efforts this year, while Natallia
Marchanka (Rechitsa, Belarus) was named All-Metropolitan Second Team on the
women’s side.
Hammond, a 6-foot-8 senior
forward, finished second on the team with 14.1 points per game, second in
rebounding at 6.0 boards per contest and led the Knights with 36 blocks.
In conference play he ranked among the league leaders at 15.4 points per
game and averaged 6.8 rebounds per game against league foes.
In
guiding Fairleigh Dickinson to the NEC Tournament for the second straight
season, Marchanka, a 5-foot-7 guard, led the Knights and finished
second in the league in scoring with 17.3 points per game. She ended the
season ranked in the NEC top-ten in seven categories, placed fourth in the
conference in made three-pointers (56), fifth in assists (4.8 apg) and sixth in
steals (2.0 spg), all top marks for the Knights. Marchanka was the
only sophomore named to the All-NEC First Team, becoming FDU’s first-ever
second-year player to earn the recognition.
