Fairleigh Dickinson Men's Soccer Tops Marist, 2-1 in Exhibition Game
Orce Kozeski's penalty kick in 108th minute lifts Knights to victory.

TEANECK, N.J. The Fairleigh Dickinson University men's soccer team defeated visiting Marist College by a score of 2-1 in a three-period exhibition match this afternoon at University Stadium. In a driving rain, Orce Kozeski (Garfield, N.J.) scored on a penalty kick with under two minutes to go in the third frame to lift the Knights to victory over the defending MAAC champion Red Foxes. The contest was called after 30 minutes in the third period due to poor playing conditions.

The Knights struck first as Johnny David (Hillside, N.J.) scored in the 35th minute. The junior connected from 10-yards in front, converting a nice combination put together by Nate Olson (Maple Grove, Minn.) and Aaron Paye (Brooklyn Center, Minn.) down the right side.

After the second 40-minute period concluded the score remained at 1-0 in favor of the Knights who controlled the ball for the majority of the game. Marist finally broke through in the 104th minute when Ricky Cusano converted a cross from the right side after a loose ball. Four minutes later the Knights took advantage of a foul that came in the penalty box and Kozeski converted the attempt successfully for the 2-1 win.

Eric Montoya (Paterson, N.J.) and Vytautas Lenkutis (Vilnius, Lithuania) both saw time in net for the Knights. Montoya played the first 67 minutes and made four saves while Lenkutis played the final 43 and stopped four shots. Their counterpart, Carlos DeBrito made six saves in net for Marist.

Fairleigh Dickinson will host Loyola (Md.) in another exhibition match on Sunday, August 23rd at 1:00 p.m. It will be the Knights' final tune up before they begin their quest to repeat as NEC regular season and tournament champs and fight for an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.
