Nipped by Princeton 1-0 PRINCETON, N.J. The Fairleigh Dickinson University men's soccer team (2-3-0) fell by a score of 1-0 at the hands of host Princeton (2-0-0) this evening. The Tigers scored in the 10th minute and held on from there. Princeton got the only goal of the contest at the 9:49 mark from Adrian Melville. Ryan Rich fed Marty Shaw who found Melville standing on the goal line and Melville punched it in for what would be the game-winner. "Our kids can hold their heads high," said Knights' head coach Seth Roland. "Princeton is a very good team. We played well and competed hard." Both teams had several opportunities throughout as the Tigers edged the Knights in shots 17-16, but both goalkeepers were up to the task. Fairleigh Dickinson's netminder, Vytautas Lenkutis (Vilnius, Lithuania), had an outstanding game making 11 saves. Tiger keeper Jason White also came up with a solid performance with seven saves. "This game could have easily been 5-4, but both keepers played great," said Roland. "There were a lot of opportunities each way and we were unlucky not to score. I thought if we got one, we would have scored two." The Knights will return to action on Sunday, September 16, at Delaware.
