Soccer Shuts Down Delaware, 2-0 NEWARK, DEL. Senior midfielder Danny Lozano (Bogota, Colombia) scored his first two goals of the season to lead the Fairleigh Dickinson University men's soccer team to a 2-0 win at Delaware this afternoon. The Knights improve to 3-3-0 on the year while the Blue Hens fall to 1-3-0. Lozano struck first in the seventh minute to put the Knights up 1-0 early. Junior forward Aaron Paye (Brooklyn Center, Minn.) fed Lozano on the right side and he connected for his first goal of the season. The Blue Hens stayed within striking distance until the 76th minute when junior midfielder Johnny David (Hillside, N.J.) was dragged down in the box. Lozano took the penalty kick and successfully converted for the insurance goal. "It was good to see Danny score his first goals of the season," said head coach Seth Roland. The Knights were out-shot by a margin of 15-10, but the defense held strong and senior goalkeeper Vytautas Lenkutis (Vilnius, Lithuania) made six saves to preserve the shutout. "Eugene (Ferrara) and Mathieu (Savaria) were very solid in the back and I'm pleased that we were able to get our first shutout," said Roland. The Knights return to action this weekend when they make their trip to western Pennsylvania for a pair of Northeast Conference matches. On Friday they will play Robert Morris at 4:00 p.m. before taking on St. Francis-PA on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Division I Men's Soccer 1st 2nd F Fairleigh Dickinson (3-3-0) 1 1 2 Delaware (1-3-0) 0 0 0 Scoring 6:03 Danny Lozano (Aaron Paye) 75:20 Danny Lozano (Penalty Kick) Shots: FDU 10; UD 15 Corners: FDU 3; UD - 5 Saves: FDU Vytautas Lenkutis 6 sv/90 min UD Kyle Haynes 11 sv/90 min Fouls: FDU 18; UD - 13 Attendance: 100 * * * KNIGHTS * * * [Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU)] FDU Copyright © 2000,2001 Fairleigh Dickinson University.
