Morris Tops Fairleigh Dickinson, 2-1 in Men's Soccer Moon

The
Fairleigh Dickinson University men's soccer team (3-4-0, 0-2-0 NEC) fell
by a score of 2-1 to host Robert Morris (1-5-0, 1-0-0 NEC) this
afternoon. Rhian Dodds'
goal in the 57th minute turned out to be the game-winner for
the Colonials. Sophomore
midfielder Danny Anderson gave the Colonials a 1-0 lead in the 23rd
minute when he scored from 15 yards out.
Dodds assisted on the goal. The
Knights tied the contest up just over five minutes later when junior
midfielder Johnny David (Hillside, N.J.) netted his second goal
of the season off a feed from freshman back Matthieu Savaria
(Montreal, Quebec). David
drew Robert Morris goalkeeper Matt Henson to the front edge of
the box and then put a shot over Henson’s right side. Dodd
had a chance to give the Colonials the lead again shortly after halftime
on a penalty kick opportunity, but Knights goalkeeper Vytautas
Lenkutis (Vilnius, Lithuania) made the stop.
Dodd made up for it at the 56:37 mark with a shot head-on
that went just over the head of Lenkutis.
Lenkutis made four saves in the contest for the Knights.
Henson stopped five shots for Robert Morris. "We weren't very sharp in our finishing today," said Knights' head coach Seth Roland. "We had six or seven good chances in the first half and only scored once. We simply aren't finishing our opportunities." The
Knights will look to rebound when they complete their two-game NEC trip to western Pennsylvania on
Sunday, September 23rd, as they take on St. Francis (Pa.)
