Dickinson’s Aaron Paye Named to NSCAA All-America Third Team
Junior Forward is First Knight to
Earn All-America Honors Since 1987.
TEANECK,
N.J. –Aaron Paye (Brooklyn Center, Minn.) of the Fairleigh
Dickinson University men’s soccer team has been named to the National Soccer
Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America Third Team. The NSCAA
announced the teams today. Paye
is the Knights’ first player to earn All-America status since Wendell
Moore in 1987.
The
junior forward leads the Northeast Conference with 40 points on 16 goals and
eight assists. He has scored five
game-winners this season, including two in the first two rounds of the NCAA
Tournament, and assisted on the game-winner in the Knights’ third round,
1-0, victory over Seton Hall on Sunday. Paye
was also a First Team All-NEC and First Team All-Region selection this year.
He was named to College Soccer News’ National Team of the Week
for his game-winners over Boston College and Princeton two weeks ago.
Fairleigh
Dickinson has advanced to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament for only the
third time in program history and first time since 1984.
They play at eighth-ranked North Carolina in the quarterfinals on
Saturday, December 8 at 1:00 p.m. The game will be web-cast on www.tarheelblue.com
for interested listeners.
North
Carolina (18-4-0) and Fairleigh Dickinson (17-6-0) will be meeting for only
the second time ever. The only
other contest between the two programs came in 1982 at the Old Dominion Harbor
Classic. That game ended in a 1-1
tie. The Knights will be entering the game against the Tar Heels
with a 10-game win streak.
