Fairleigh Dickinson Men’s Tennis Collects Six All-NEC Honors
Sarria, Bogdanov, Green and Rubio land on second team singles and doubles .

Teaneck, N.J. – The Northeast Conference (NEC) announced its postseason men’s tennis honors on Monday.  Four members of the Fairleigh Dickinson’s men’s tennis team landed spots on the All-NEC Second Team in singles and doubles.  Voting was conducted by the league’s head coaches.

Headlining the All-NEC Second Team singles at the #1 flight is sophomore Alex Sarria (Cali, Colombia) who was a perfect 11-0 in conference play, won ten straight matches to end the season and produced an 18-9 overall mark.  Senior Boris Bogdanov (Fair Lawn, N.J.) returned to the courts to earn honors at #2 singles following a 20-6 campaign and winning all 11 of his NEC matchups.  Freshman George Green (Leeds, England) earned second team honors at #3 singles after leading the league with 29 victories (against just five defeats) and was 12-1 versus conference opponents.  Freshman Angel Rubio (Edo De Mex, Mexico) was the second team choice at #5 singles, where he tallied an 8-2 record, including a 6-0 mark in the league. Green and Rubio were the only freshmen to earn All-NEC singles honors.

All four players also earned a spot on the All-NEC Doubles Second Team.  Leading off the squad at #1 singles is the combination of Sarria and Green.  The duo went 6-3 overall and 4-1 in the NEC.  Bogdanov and Rubio combined to earn #2 doubles honors with a 6-4 record on the season and a 4-2 mark when facing NEC opponents.

The Knights finished 16-5 overall this year and went 11-1 against NEC opponents.  Their lone loss came to UMBC in the 2002 NEC title match, giving the Knights a second place finish, their best since 1999, after being picked sixth in the preseason poll.
