Dickinson Women’s Bowling Signs Kristina Szalay
TEANECK,
N.J. – Fairleigh
Dickinson University head women’s bowling coach Mike LoPresti
announced today that Kristina Szalay (Elmwood Park, N.J./Paramus Catholic)
has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Fairleigh Dickinson
University and compete for the Knights beginning next fall. Szalay is
the first recruit to be signed by LoPresti, who is the program’s
first-ever varsity coach and will guide the Knights in their inaugural season
in 2002-03. Szalay
was a four-year varsity letter winner at Paramus Catholic.
She served as team captain during her senior year, posting a 195
average. Szalay captured a
pair of county championships as a junior and senior. She is also a four-time team Most Valuable Player, earned
All-County honors all four years and All-State honors three times. “Kristina
brings a lot of talent, energy and a very successful background,” said LoPresti.
“She is the perfect player to build our program around.
With her leadership and skills as one of the top high school bowlers
we’re looking for Kristina to be a cornerstone of our program.” Fairleigh
Dickinson University is one of the largest private universities in New Jersey,
competing at the NCAA Division I level. It is an independent, nonsectarian,
coeducational institution, offering a broad variety of studies to over 4,000
students on the Teaneck-Hackensack campus.
