White Named NEC Rookie of the Week SOMERSET,
NJ – Fairleigh
Dickinson University sophomore Dana White (Camden, NJ/Camden) earned
Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for women’s outdoor track
after winning the shot put at the Virginia Commonwealth Invitational
last weekend with a toss of 14.15 meters (46’-5.25”).
With
the winning throw, the first year collegiate competitor qualified for
ECAC’s in her very first outdoor meet and rose to the top of the
NEC’s Top 15 List by over five feet. White also finished eighth in the 100m hurdles,
running a 15.66 in the preliminaries and 16.18 in the finals.
The versatile rookie also competed in the 200m (27.39) and
helped the Knights to a fifth place showing in the 4x100m relay
(49.77). Earlier
during the indoor season White earned her first NEC Rookie of
the Week honor. At the
2002 NEC Indoor Championships she placed third in the shot put
(41’-6.5”) and helped the 4x400m relay team to an eighth place
finish. The
Knights return to action this Saturday, March 30th when
they compete at the Lafayette Quad Meet. *
