Cross
Country Teams Compete at Manhattan College Duals
Men
finish 4-0; Women fall 0-3
BRONX,
NY –
The Fairleigh Dickinson University men’s and women’s
cross country teams competed at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, NY, at a
dual meet hosted by Manhattan College and including Marist (men’s only),
Iona, and St. Peter’s.
The men’s team swept all four schools finishing all five runners in the
top eight overall of the three-mile course. The
Knights went 1-2-3-4-5 against Iona and Marist, defeated St. Peter’s
16-39 and edged Manhattan 23-32. Erick
Too (Eldoret, Kenya) was FDU’s top finisher coming in at 15:44.3
followed less than two seconds later by Alfred Korir (Kapsabet, Kenya)
in 15:46.1. Aidan Walsh
(Dublin, Ireland) finished in 15:58.8, Duncan Bitok (Rift Valley,
Kenya) was next at 15:59.1 and Robert Rotich (Kericho, Kenya)
rounded out the Knights’ five in 16:03.5.
The women’s team went 0-3 at the meet, getting edged by Iona 26-30, and
dropping 32-23 to St. Peter’s and 44-19 to host Manhattan. The squad was paced by Seeyian Metoyu (Illasit, Kenya) who
finished the two-mile course in fourth place overall in a time of 9:31.36.
Fredyla Urena (Fairview, NJ/Cliffside Park) was the Knights’
second finisher, coming in ninth overall in 10:00.63.
The
teams are next in competition at the Northeast Conference Championships,
held on Saturday, October 27th in Moon Township, Pa.
