Dickinson Volleyball Defeats Manhattan in Three Games
Sharon Becker Tallies 14 kills and 14 digs
HACKENSACK,
NJ –
The
Fairleigh Dickinson University women’s volleyball team (4-5)
defeated the Manhattan Lady Jaspers (5-8) in three close games:
30-26, 30-24, 32-30.
The
Knights, who had lost a four-game match to the Lady Jaspers at last
week’s Cornell Invitational played inspired defense and were able
to keep Manhattan to a .138 team hitting percentage.
Four Knights registered double-digit digs including a team-high 21
from senior co-captain Trisha Nunnenkamp (Merrick, NY/Calhoun).
Sharon Becker (Dumont, NJ/Paramus Catholic) had 14 and both Nicole
Farrell (Warwick, NY/Warwick) and Heather Galaydick
(Hackensack, NJ/Paramus Catholic) had career high digs with 11
and 12, respectively.
Becker
led the Knight offense with a team-high 14 kills
and Allison Picker (San Rafael, CA/Marin Academy) had
10 kills and five blocks.
Senior
captain Kim Frederick (Orange, CA) had a double-double for Manhattan
with 12 kills and 11 digs while Amy O’Dorisio (Poway, CA) tallied
a team-high 15 kills and added nine digs.
Marcelina Diaz (Canyon Country, CA) had 14 digs and nine
assists.
The
Knights travel to Drexel for a tri-match on Sunday, September 30.
They play Lafayette at 12 noon and Drexel at 2 pm.
