2001 OUTLOOK The Knights return four starters from last year's squad, led by experienced senior co-captains Randi Kluemper and Trisha Nunnenkamp. Kluemper flourished last season in a starting role, running the Knights' offense from the setter position. Nunennkamp returns as the Knights' top defender after finishing 15th in the nation in digs per game (4.18) in 2000. Juniors Allison Picker and Marissa Sarubbi are the only other upperclassmen on the young team. Picker led the team and was fourth in the NEC in blocks per game (1.00) last season. She worked hard during the off-season and should make an even bigger impact on the right-side in 2001. Sarubbi brings two years experience as a defender to the back row. Sophomore Kristin Risberg remains an effective middle option after having led the team in hitting percentage last season as rookie. Sophomore Sharon Becker, after an injury kept her on the sidelines in 2000, will be eager to take to the court and display her talent, most notably at outside hitter. Sophomore Nicole Farrell will vie for time at outside hitter and contribute to defense. Three talented freshmen bring depth to each position. Carli Kaminska is a valuable addition both as a middle hitter and on defense. Heather Galaydick will see time at outside hitter and back-up setter. Dorrit Emerich gives the Knights versatility at several positions. |
