SANDY GORDON GAGLIOTI
Head Coach

Sandy Gordon Gaglioti enters her third season poised to lead the Knights to another successful campaign. In her first year at the helm Gordon Gaglioti led the Knights to their best record since the 1996-97 season and won 10 conference games for the first time since 1992-93. Despite a slow start the team won nine of their last 13 games of the season including the program's 300th all-time win (67-64 against UMBC on January 8, 2000).

A core group of five seniors provided Gordon Gaglioti with a solid foundation in her second season. She introduced her first recruiting class and again led the team to the NEC Tournament and another 11-17 record. Included in the win column were two regular-season victories over eventual NEC Tournament Champion and NCAA-bound Long Island and the first win over perennial-power St. Francis (PA) in five seasons.

Some will say replacing the 2000-2001 senior class will be a difficult feat, but Gordon Gaglioti has brought in an even larger recruiting class, full of talent and eager to contribute. Her first recruiting class returns for their sophomore season and consists of four athletic and versatile players who were asked to make large contributions last season and rose to the challenge.

Gordon Gaglioti was named the fifth coach in the 24-year history of the Fairleigh Dickinson University women's basketball program on May 5, 1999. A dream come true for the Franklin Lakes, New Jersey native who was recognized as an outstanding prep athlete in Bergen County and throughout New Jersey. "Sandra Gordon Gaglioti is a perfect fit for our women's basketball program," said Director of Athletics Steve Hurlbut. "Her passion for the game, her energy and charisma will allow our program to return to the top of the Northeast Conference."

Gordon Gaglioti spent eight years as an assistant coach including a stint at Fairleigh Dickinson in 1994-95. She has been on the sidelines as an assistant at St. Bonaventure University (1988-93) and the University of Maryland Baltimore County (1995-97). During her first tour at Fairleigh Dickinson, she helped the Knights increase their win total by three games (six total wins) and the following year by six games (12 total wins) with student-athletes she recruited. Gordon Gaglioti was responsible for signing 1998 graduate Takisha Williams.

Gordon Gaglioti was an outstanding three-sport athlete at Ramapo High School, earning All-State honors in soccer and basketball and All-County honors in soccer, basketball and softball. She received a Division I scholarship to play basketball at Manhattan College. During her junior season she led the Lady Jaspers to the 1987 NCAA Tournament, which ended in a 70-55 loss to Duke. As a senior, Gordon Gaglioti was honored as a First Team All-MAAC performer and was the Manhattan College team MVP.

Gordon Gaglioti is an avid runner and golfer. She has competed in local 5K to 15K races and ran the 2000 New York Marathon in 3:29.

Gordon Gaglioti is married to Peter Gaglioti, a former Knights' menšs soccer assistant coach and currently the head women's soccer coach and assistant director of student-athlete support services. They reside in Park Ridge, NJ.
