Place Two on All-NEC Teams
Natallia Marchanka earns First-Team; Kay Odenwaelder
named All-Rookie

Dickinson University women’s basketball players Natallia
Marchanka (Rechitsa, Belarus/Rep. School of Olympic Reserve) and Kay
Odenwaelder (Goshen, Conn./Holy Cross) earned All-Northeast
Conference recognition for their spectacular seasons.
Marchanka was
the
only sophomore named
to
the First-Team
All-NEC while Odenwaelder was honored with All-NEC Rookie
Team for being one of the conference’s rising stars.
Marchanka
leads the team and is second in the NEC in scoring at 17.3 ppg and
also ranking
fourth in the conference in steals (2.0 spg) and sixth in assists
(4.92 apg), both top marks for the Knights. She has scored in
double-digits in all but four games this season. As a sophomore she
has already totalled 694 points and 212 assists.
Odenwaelder
is second on the team in scoring (9.3 ppg). Her team-leading 6.8
rebounds per game tops all newcomers in the NEC and is 10th overall.
In the last week of regular season she tallied her team leading fourth and fifth
double-doubles of the year.In a loss to first place St. Francis (PA)
(68-59), she posted 16 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and one
assist. In an overtime setback to Robert Morris (106-99), Odenwalder
scored a career-high 31 points (10-18 FG, 10-12 FT) and grabbed a
game-high 11 rebounds, while also adding two assists and a steal on
the day.
The
Knights return to the NEC Tournament for the third straight year.
As the #7 seed they face the #2 seeded Long Island Blackbirds
in the first round on Saturday, March 2nd at 5:30pm. The
2001-2002 post-season awards were announced on Friday evening at the pre-tournament banquet.
