KNIGHTS COME UP SHORT AGAINST WAGNER, 54-50

The Knights fell 54-50 against Wagner at the Spiro Sports Center. The game was a see-saw battle throughout the first half. Both teams were defensive-minded and plagued by turnovers, combining for 23 turnovers in the first half. There also were seven lead changes that culminated with a 30-28 Wagner lead.

The Knights trailed for nearly the rest of the game, but did not allow Wagner to pull away despite shooting 25.9% from the field in the second half. With 5:26 left in the contest, the Seahawks took an 8 point lead, their biggest of the game.

After the ensuing time-out, the Knights came out fired up. They went on a 10-2 run to tie the game at 50 with :41 left. Unfortunatly for FDU, Wagner came down on their next trip and hit a jumper with :26 to go. The Knights got another shot, but Natallia, Marchanka's three-pointer hit the front of the rim. FDU could not get Wagner into the bonus nor get another opportunity as Wagner ran off the clock and hit a lay-up as time expired.

The Knights were lead by Karen Tiedemann and Nevin Caple who each had 13 points. Melanie Prol and Betsy Blom added 8 rebounds as the Knights fall to 4-11 (3-3 NEC) overall. Wagner improves to 6-9 (3-3 NEC).

FDU's next game is Saturday at home against Sacred Heart. Gametime is 2:00pm.
