KNIGHTS FALL IN SEASON OPENER

With the help of well-placed screens and three field goals from Karen Tiedemann--all on assists from Tommica Woods--Fairleigh Dickinson opened with an 11-4 lead at Georgetown in the first four minutes.

Hoya head coach Pat Knapp called a time-out and over the next ten minutes Georgetown managed to take back the lead with a 19-6 run, which put the Hoyas on top for the remainder. A 31-28 Hoya halftime lead became a double-digit deficit for the Knights at 14:43 in the second session.

Tiedemann, who had a game-high 12 points in the first half (5-5 from the field, including 2-2 three-pointers), was kept without a field goal in the second half as the Hoyas forced 13 FDU turnovers. Tiedemann finished with a team-high 13 points (5-9 from the field) and added two rebounds, three assists and two steals in her 35 minutes. Melanie Prol scored 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting and led the Knights with five rebounds.

Freshmen Meaghan Allan, Jennifer Kozlowski, Natallia Marchanka and Courtney Tierney all played in their first career game. Allan led the newcomers with two points, four rebounds, three assists and one steal in 18 minutes. Kozlowski becomes the first freshman to start in a season opener since Dawn Werner started vs. Colgate in the 1995-96 season.
