FIVE KNIGHTS SCORE IN DOUBLE-DIGITS

The Knights opened Northeast Conference competition with a bang. Earning their first win at home this season, FDU defeated the Monmouth Hawks, 75-59, for FDUšs largest margin of victory on the year. FDU connected on two three-pointers to start the game and didnšt look back, keeping the Hawks to just three field goals in the first ten minutes.

An 11-point halftime lead, 31-20, was narrowed to seven at the 16:39 mark in the second half at which point the Knights blazed a 13-0 streak over the next four minutes to take a 20-point cushion, 49-29. At 7:23 remaining, the Knights had their big lead of 22 points, 60-38.

Despite trouble at the free throw line in the first half (6-12), FDU went 18 for 20 in the second and shot 50% from the field (12-24) to help keep the Hawks in a double-digit deficit. Five Knights scored either career- or season-highs on the afternoon.

Melanie Prol led the team with 18 points (7-10 from the field) and tied for a team-high with eight rebounds. Karen Tiedemann scored 17 points and Kyle Schmitz (whose previous career highs were three points and six rebounds) recorded 10 points and eight boards in a career-high 19 minutes. Tommica Woods missed a double-double with nine points (6-6 from the free throw line) and eight assists in a full 40 minutes.
