Knights Drop NEC Opener at Monmouth, 84-72
Kay Odenwaelder narrowly misses double-double with 17 points, nine rebounds
 

West Long Branch, NJ – Fairleigh Dickinson women’s basketball (3-2, 0-1 NEC) dropped their Northeast Conference season opener at Monmouth (3-3, 1-0 NEC), 84-72.  

Thirteen lead changes and seven ties occurred in the first half, with the Knights taking a slim two point, 40-38 margin going into halftime.  Each team shot identical 15-34 (44.1%) in the first session.  Monmouth connected on 58.8% of their field goals (20-34) and out-rebounded the Knights' 22-12 in the second half to pull away and take the conference opener.

Kay Odenwaelder paced the Knights with 17 points and nine rebounds to narrowly miss her second double-double of the season.  Natallia Marchanka also scored 17 points, adding six assists and four steals.  Meaghan Allan scored ten points and also dished out six assists.

Monmouth's Michelle Cappadona scored 30 points on 13-of-18 shooting and tallied the only double-double of the game with 10 boards.

The Knights are next in action on Wednesday, December 5th when they host Centenary College (La.) for a 7:00 p.m. game.
