Fairleigh Dickinson Drops Two at Temple Classic
Knights suffer 46-105 loss to Ole Miss on Sunday before falling 72-83 to UMES on Monday

Philadelphia, PAThe Fairleigh Dickinson University (5-5) women’s basketball team suffered two straight losses for the first time this season as they dropped both of their matches at the Temple Classic held at the Liacouras Center.

Freshman Erin Mills (Wilmington, DE) led the team in scoring for the first time this season with 10 points as the Knights fell 46-105 to the Ole Miss Lady Rebels. The Knights were out-rebounded 23-51 by the Lady Rebels and managed just a 32.7% field goal percentage compared to 54.4% from Ole Miss who also hit 9-of-22 from behind the arc (40.9%).

Mills added three assists in a career-high 34 minutes. Nevin Caple (Baltimore, MD) and Kyle Schmitz (Herndon, VA) both scored eight points and grabbed two rebounds.

On Sunday, December 31st the Knights fell 72-83 to the UMES Lady Hawks.

Fairleigh Dickinson slowly took control of a close game, going into intermission with a 34-29 lead against the Hawks.  But 17 second-half turnovers and poor free-throw shooting plagued the Knights and kept them in the deficit for almost all of the second half.

Natallia Marchanka (Rechitsa, Belarus) led all scorers with 23 points on 10-of-18 shooting.  She added five assists and four rebounds. Jen Kozlowski (Linwood, PA) helped keep the Knights within striking distance with a career-high 22 points, including 3-of-6 from behind the arc, and added four rebounds and four assists. Schmitz had seven points and six rebounds in 13 minutes for the Knights.

The Knights begin 2002 with an NEC road trip to face Mt. St. Mary's on Saturday, January 5th at 7pm and UMBC on Monday, January 7th at 7pm.
