Wagner Ends Fairleigh Dickinson’s Home Win Streak, 61-56
Natallia Marchanka scores 17 points to lead three in double figures

HACKENSACK, NJ – The Fairleigh Dickinson (12-8, 7-4 NEC) women's basketball team’s eight-game win streak in the Rothman Center this season came to an end with a 61-56 loss to the Wagner Seahawks (9-11, 7-4 NEC).

Neither team got further ahead than four points until after seven lead changes when Wagner scored eight straight points to go up by nine, 31-22, with 2:24 to go in the first.  The Knights scored four straight over the remainder and went into halftime down by five, 26-31.

A three-pointer from Natallia Marchanka (Rechitsa, Belarus) moved the Knights within two, 29-31 at 19:17 in the second half but they would not get any closer.  The Seahawks would have a two-possession lead for most of the remainder with the Knights getting as close as three, 54-57 with 23 seconds left and again with three seconds left, 56-69.

Marchanka led the Knights for the 12th time this season, with 17 points adding five assists.  Meaghan Allan (Millersville, MD) scored 11 points including 3-of-6 from behind the arc dishing out four assists while Kanesha Wright (Somerdale, NJ) had 10 points and four rebounds.  Kay Odenwaelder (Goshen, Conn.) grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.

Three Seahawks scored in double-figures with Carrie Walker (Gibsonia, PA) scoring 14 points and grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds.  Meredith Kerns (Harrisburg, PA) had a game-high 18 points while Jackie Fournier (Swansea, MA) totaled 16 points, including 4-of-7 three-pointers. Walker and Fournier combined for all of the Seahawks’ first 14 points of the game.

The Knights take to the road for a game at Long Island on Monday, February 4th at 5:00pm.
