Morris Holds Off FDU Women's Hoops in OT, 106-99
Moon Township, Pa. - Robert Morris posted a 106-99 OT win over Fairleigh Dickinson at the Charles L. Sewall Center this afternoon. The two teams combined for the most points ever in an NEC game with 205, breaking a 15 year-old mark. The 99 points for the Knights was the most since a 101-72 victory over St. Francis (NY) in the 1991-92 season. It was the final regular-season game for both teams. FDU qualified for the Northeast Conference (NEC) playoffs with a 14-13, 9-9 NEC ledger. Robert Morris ends its campaign at 3-22 overall and 3-15 in the NEC. The two teams were deadlocked at halftime, 41-41. A 7-0, 1:33 Fairleigh Dickinson run gave the visitors a 90-83 advantage with 2:25 to play, but two consecutive three pointers by the Colonial's Keisha Brown narrowed the FDU lead to 90-89 with :32 left. Two Knights free throws made it 92-89 with :03 on the clock, but Brown's desperation, half-court shot under double coverage banked in just as time expired. The Colonials outscored FDU 14-7 in overtime to pull out the win. Kay Odenwaelder (Goshen, Conn.) hustled to a career-high 31 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the field and 10-of-12 from the free throw line. She added 11 rebounds for her second consecutive double-double and team-leading fifth on the season. Natallia Marchanka (Rechitsa, Belarus) had 17 points and narrowly missed a double-double with a career-high-tying nine assists, adding six rebounds in 42 minutes. Jennifer Kozlowski (Linwood, PA) scored 16 for the Knights, dishing out four assists while Erin Mills (Wilmington, DE) played the full 45 minutes, recording 14 points--including a trio of three-pointers--and added five assists and four rebounds. Brown scored 37 points to set a new Robert Morris single-game scoring record, sinking seven three-pointers. Colonial Sarah McDonald notched a career-high 16 points. A total of nine players scored in double figures in the game, which featured 45 lead changes.
