Dickinson Defeats Long Island 2-1 in Women's Soccer

-- The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's soccer team (3-7, 2-5
NEC) defeated Long Island (2-9, 2-4 NEC) in a Northeast Conference
match-up tonight. The win for the Knights marks the second Northeast
Conference win for the second-year program. With five matches left in
the season, the 2001 Knights have surpassed the 2-16-1 record posted
in the program's first year and have tied the scoring output with 13
goals so far on the season.
The Blackbirds opened
the scoring at 17:30 with a goal by Rosette Rough. The Knights' Kelly Geraghty (Elmont, NY/Sewanhaka) tied the
score at 41:05 off a pass from Josephine Fucci (Staten Island, NY/St.
Joseph by the Sea), Fucci's first career assist.
With the scored tied
at 1-1 Stephanie Williams (Randolph, MA/Braintree) scored the
game-winner on her lone shot of the game, a 15-yard kick assisted once
again by Fucci.
Knight goalkeeper
Megan McDonnell (Richmond Hill, NY/Cardozo) made six saves to earn her
third win of the season.
Fairleigh Dickinson
returns to action with a home match against Quinnipiac on Wednesday,
October 17th at 3pm.
