Columbia Defeats
Fairleigh Dickinson Women's Soccer, 3-1
Aubrey McCullough scores Knights'
goal in 82nd minute.
NEW YORK — Meredith Corkery
scored three times to lead Columbia to a 3-1 victory over Fairleigh
Dickinson at Columbia Soccer Stadium. The Knights fell to 2-8 on the
year, while Columbia improved to 8-2.
Corkery first struck at 33:55 when
Heather Burke served a ball from the left side to the junior forward,
who turned and scored on a low shot from six yards out in the box.
Just over 15 minutes into the second half, she made it 2-0 on a low
pass from Tara Davis, who was inside the top center of the box. At
69:58, Corkery got her third, knocking the ball into the goal on a
sliding shot, assisted by Erica Woda and Cori Cassens.
Fairleigh Dickinson got on the board at
81:02 on a breakaway by Aubrey McCullough assisted by Angela
Caruso.
The Knights return to action on October
12, when they play LIU on the road in a Northeast Conference contest
at 7:00 p.m.
