Fairleigh
Dickinson University Drops Season Opener at Seton Hall, 4-0
Goalkeeper Megan McDonnell makes eight saves
SOUTH ORANGE,
NEW JERSEY - Despite an outstanding campaign from several Knight
defenders and just a 1-0 deficit at halftime, the Fairleigh Dickinson
women's soccer team
dropped their 2001 season opener at Seton Hall, 4-0.
The Knights attempted
two shots at goal before Seton Hall scored on its very first attempt.
Fairleigh Dickinson kept the pressure on and thwarted the Pirate offense
for the remainder of the first half.
Twelve minutes into the
second half, sophomore captain and starting defender Kim Scrio
(East Islip, NY/Islip Terrace) blocked a shot that already had
the home crowd cheering. Seton Hall scored on the consequent corner
kick for a 2-0 lead at 57:39. The Pirates found the back of the net
two more times before taking the win.
Megan McDonnell (Richmond
Hill, NY/Cardozo) made eight saves on the day.
The team next travels
to Temple on Tuesday, September 4th for a 4:00pm match. The Knights
host Drexel on Wednesday, September 12th at 4:00pm for their home
opener.
