Fairleigh Dickinson Women’s Soccer Defeated by UMBC, 4-0
Megan McDonnell makes nine saves for Knights.

Teaneck, N.J. – The Fairleigh Dickinson University women’s soccer team (0-6, 0-4 NEC) fell by a score of 4-0 at the hands of visiting UMBC (2-5, 1-2 NEC) this afternoon at University Stadium.  UMBC scored once in the first half and three times in the second half to take the victory.

Jessa Karko got the Retrievers on the scoreboard in the 15th minute.  After Knights’ goalkeeper Megan McDonnell (Richmond Hill, N.Y.) made one save, Karko headed the rebound out of McDonnell’s reach.

The Knights kept the game at 1-0 until the 64:31 mark when Missy Moore put the Retrievers up by two, connecting on a pass by Nicole Grinspoon.  UMBC went up 3-0 less than two minutes later on an own goal and added another insurance goal in the 80th minute, this one by Rovla Adams.

McDonnell came up with nine saves for the Knights.  Her counterpart Becky Hicock made one save as the Retrievers out-shot Fairleigh Dickinson 21-1.

The Knights return to action on Sunday, September 30, when they host Mount St. Mary’s in another key NEC matchup at 1:00 p.m.
