Dickinson Women’s Soccer Defeated by UMBC, 4-0

McDonnell makes nine saves for Knights.

N.J. – The Fairleigh
Dickinson University women’s soccer team (0-6, 0-4 NEC) fell by a
score of 4-0 at the hands of visiting UMBC (2-5, 1-2 NEC) this
afternoon at University Stadium. UMBC scored once in the first half and three times in the
second half to take the victory.
Jessa
Karko got the Retrievers on the scoreboard in the 15th
minute. After Knights’
goalkeeper Megan McDonnell (Richmond Hill, N.Y.) made one save,
Karko headed the rebound out of McDonnell’s reach.
The
Knights kept the game at 1-0 until the 64:31 mark when Missy Moore put
the Retrievers up by two, connecting on a pass by Nicole Grinspoon. UMBC
went up 3-0 less than two minutes later on an own goal and added
another insurance goal in the 80th minute, this one by
Rovla Adams.
McDonnell
came up with nine saves for the Knights.
Her counterpart Becky Hicock made one save as the Retrievers
out-shot Fairleigh Dickinson 21-1.
The
Knights return to action on Sunday, September 30, when they host Mount
St. Mary’s in another key NEC matchup at 1:00 p.m.
