Fairleigh
Dickinson Falls in Overtime to Temple, 2-1
Kelly Geraghty scores Knights' lone goal
PHILADELPHIA
- The Fairleigh Dickinson University women's soccer team opened
a 1-0 lead on the Temple Owls just five minutes into the game but
was forced into overtime where they dropped a 2-1 decision.
Kelly Geraghty
(Elmont, NY/Sewanhaka) scored five minutes in
to give the Knights a quick 1-0 advantage.
A lightning delay occured
30 minutes into the game, halting play for 15 minutes. The teams reconvened
on the field only to be forced once again off the field five minutes
later because of the weather conditions.
"It was a hard fought
effort," says head coach Peter Gaglioti of taking the Owls into
overtime. "We played hard but just didn't come out on top."
The team hosts Drexel
on Wednesday, September 12th at 4:00pm for their home opener before
taking to the road for the beginning of Northeast Conference competition.
They play St. Francis (PA) on Friday the 14th at 1pm and then take
on Robert Morris on Sunday the 16th for a 12 noon match.
