Liberty Takes Two From Knights, 4-3 & 7-2
Jessie Potter rips three-run home run in game one

LYNCHBURG, VA The Fairleigh Dickinson University softball team (2-2) dropped two games to the Liberty Lady Flames (15-14) this afternoon, 4-3 and 7-2.

In the first game, Liberty jumped out to a one-run lead in the bottom of the first inning.  The score remained a 1-0 until the top of the third when the Knights took the lead on a three-run home run by Jessi Potter (Fr., 3B, Oneonta, NY) to left field, plating Kara Morris (Fr., OF, Mahwah, NJ) and Kimberly Farhat (Fr., SS, Paramus, NJ) to take the 3-1 advantage.  Fairleigh Dickinson would hold the lead until the bottom of the sixth when Liberty answered with its own three-run shot to give the Lady Flames the lead for good.

Jennifer Buehler (So., RHP, Oriskany, NY) took the loss in relief moving to 1-1 on the season.  She surrendered three runs on two hits in 2 2/3 innings of work. Jennifer Hurley (Fr., RHP, Asheboro, NC) picked up the win for Liberty and moved to 8-8 on the season.

The Knights took the first lead of the nightcap as Courtney Rejent (Fr., 1B, Paramus, NJ) led off the third inning with a double to left center field and later scored on a Caroline Kovach (So., OF, Tinton Falls, NJ) sacrifice fly to left.

Liberty responded with at least one run in each of the next three innings and while the Knights managed just one more run before the game was called due to darkness with Liberty ahead 7-2.  Marliese Kotrosits (Fr., RHP, Whitehall, PA) took the loss for the Knights as she allowed four earned runs on five hits in four innings, fanning three batters. She moved to 1-1 on the season.

The Knights return to action on Wednesday, March 20th with a doubleheader at Morgan State at 12:00 p.m.
