HACKENSACK, NJ Ė The Fairleigh Dickinson University (7-20) softball team dropped its last home game of the season to the visiting St. Peterís (17-13) Peahens in a non-conference local rival matchup.

St. Peterís opened a quick 1-0 lead with their leadoff batter in the first. Nicole Melchiorre (Fr., SS, Marlton, NJ) ripped an inside-the-park home run to left center. Teresa Wilson (Soph., CF, Teaneck, NJ) helped the Peahens to a 3-0 lead with a two-rbi double in the second frame and St. Peterís added one more in the third for a 5-0 advantage.

The Knights responded in the bottom of the third with their second hit of the game. Mo OíCallahan (Soph., DH/C, Barnegat,NJ) singled and advanced to second on a passed ball. Tiffany Farhat (Fr., 2B, Paramus, NJ) had one of her two singles to advance OíCallahan to third and she later scored on a throwing error by the Peahenís catcher who was trying to pick her off.

The teams would combine for just four more hits over the next three inning, FDU getting two singles in the sixth but not able to capitalize. Lindsay Tobia (Fr., 1B, Pennsauken, NJ) added one more for St. Peterís in the seventh when she turned fast enough to score off her single to center field on a Knight error.

Nicole Farrissey (Fr., RHP, Paramus, NJ) allowed five hits and four earned runs for the Knights, moving to 3-8 on the season. Lisa Kotuba (Fr., OF/P, Clifton, NJ) made her first appearance on the mound for FDU, retiring five straight batters over the sixth and seventh innings before allowing two hits and an unearned run in the seventh.

FDU got two hits apiece from Tiffany Farhat and Courtney Rejent (Fr., 3B, Paramus, NJ) while St. Peterís spread its seven hits amongst seven different players.
