Junior Stacy Scofield
(Stewartstown, PA/Kennard-Dale) belted a home run and tossed a five-inning
two-hitter to lead Saint Francis (24-22, 10-9 NEC) to a 13-5 victory over
Fairleigh Dickinson (8-23, 6-16 NEC) in the first game of a Northeast
Conference doubleheader.
Scofield turned in a dominating performance in game one, allowing
just two hits while striking out seven to improve to 13-8 on the season. At the plate, the junior slugger opened the floodgates in a
seven-run fourth inning for the Flash, drilling a three-run home run.
Senior thirdbaseman Jen
Leibowitz (Harleysville, PA/Souderton) also homered in the first game
for Saint Francis, belting a two-run shot in the third inning.
It was Leibowitz’s seventh home run of the season.
Senior firstbaseman Brooke Keiper (Johnstown, PA/Johnstown) was also one of the
catalysts in the victory, going four-for-four with two doubles, three runs
scored and two RBI.
The Knights bounced back in game two, halting a 10-game losing
streak. Freshman pitcher Nicole Farrissey (Paramus, NJ/Paramus) tossed a complete-game
five-hitter to improve to 4-10. The
righthander struck out two and walked one.
Senior Cindi Ciotti
(Minersville, PA/ Minersville) took the loss for the Red Flash to slip to
11-12. Ciotti gave up four
runs on 10 hits.
Sophomores Caroline Kovach
(Tinton Falls, NJ/Monmouth) and Maureen
O’Callahan (Barnegat, NJ/Southern Regional) each connected on solo
home runs in the second game for Fairleigh Dickinson.
Scofield hit another home run in game two and Red Flash senior
catcher Jamie Krusinsky
(Shenandoah, PA/Shenandoah) connected on her sixth home run of the season
in the nightcap.
Fairleigh Dickinson will close out the regular season on Friday,
April 26th with a non-conference doubleheader at St. Peter's, beginning at
4pm.
