Sweep Two From Knights, 6-0 and 4-0
STONY BROOK, NY – The Fairleigh Dickinson University (4-8) softball team dropped two non-conference games to host Stony Brook (11-12) by scores of 6-0 and 4-0. The
Seawolves came on strong in the first game, as Stephanie DiBiase and
Colleen McCarthy each touched up FDU pitcher Anneliese Padilla for
a base hit to open the game. Kristen Brust then hit a shot over the left
field fence to give Stony Brook a quick 3-0 lead. DiBiase's RBI single in
the second drove in Jen Milito, and the Seawolves added two runs in the
third on a wild pitch and a passed ball to go up 6-0. The
Knights struggled offensively, with Tiffany Farhat getting FDU’s
first hit of the game in the sixth inning and advancing on a sacrifice
bunt from twin sister Kimberly Farhat. The Knights got two more
hits in the seventh but couldn’t capitalize on the base runners and fell
to the Seawolves. Stony
Brook got on board in the third frame of game two and added one run in the
fifth and another in the sixth. The Knights managed four hits, one each
from Kara Morris, Jessi Potter, Courtney Rejent, and Caroline
Kovach, but couldn’t get on the scoreboard. The Seawolves’ Lindsey DeLaRosa struck out five and walked none to earn her second victory of the year while Nicole Farrissey moved to 2-3 on the season with the loss. She gave up three runs on four hits in five innings of work. The Knights, currently on a four-day streak of doubleheaders, return to action tomorrow at Foschini Park to host Mt. St. Mayr's in a rescheduled meeting. The first pitch is set for 2:00pm. *
